Biztricks for trading

Every builder has their own rate. Keep them all straight.

A materials business does not have one price list — it has one for the counter and a different one for each contractor it supplies. Biztricks holds the agreed rate against the partner, so the quote is right whoever raises it and however long ago the deal was struck.

A rate per partner, not per memory

Record what a builder pays for 18mm BWR once. Every enquiry that comes through them quotes at it — including the ones raised by whoever is on the counter that afternoon.

Blanket deals become real prices

"Ten per cent off list" is written out as an actual rate against each item rather than stored as a multiplier, so when they ask what their price is you can tell them a number.

HSN on the line, every time

Plywood is 4412, laminate 4823, edge band 3920, hinges 8302, freight 9965. Seeded against the items, printed on the invoice, and only on a taxed document.

Day one

Your item list, already written

Pick building materials trading at signup and these 6 items are waiting for you, each with its measurement mode, its unit, GST and an HSN or SAC code. The rates are starting points — change them on the first morning.

Your quotes will group lines by category, and the first one is usually Plywood. That word appears on the builder screen and on the document your customer reads.

The payment schedule your trade actually works to

Every proposal carries a staged plan, and it starts as the one below. Putting an interiors firm's four-stage schedule on a materials invoice would be wrong on its face, so Biztricks sets it per trade rather than once for everybody.

Default terms: 100% payment before dispatch unless agreed otherwise. Quote valid 7 days — rates track market.

Quotes that move at the speed of the counter

A dealer's quote is not a week's work — it is a phone call, and the answer is expected before the call ends. So the fast path matters more here than anywhere else in Biztricks.

An item that is not on your list can be typed straight into the quote and saved into the list afterwards if you want to keep it. A customer who does not exist yet can be created from inside the quote rather than in another screen first. And a bill can be raised from nothing at all when there was never a quotation — which, for a counter sale, is most of the time.

What "grouped by category" gives you

A materials quotation that lists forty lines flat is a quotation nobody checks. Grouping by category — plywood, laminate, hardware, freight — gives each group its own subtotal, so a contractor comparing your quote against another one can find the line they care about in seconds. That is often what decides which of the two gets read.

Rates move. Biztricks does not track the market for you, and the terms it seeds for this trade say so plainly: quote valid 7 days — rates track market. Updating your list is a deliberate act, because a price that changed itself is a price you cannot stand behind on the phone.

Questions

Questions from trading firms

Can I hold different prices for different builders?

Yes — that is what partner pricing is for. Each builder is recorded once, with the rates you agreed. Those rates then apply to every client and every site that comes through them, so the price does not depend on who takes the call or on anyone remembering a conversation from eight months ago.

What if someone quotes a partner client at the list price by mistake?

Biztricks spots it and offers you the agreed rate. One tap takes it; ignoring the prompt keeps what you typed. It is deliberately a prompt and not an automatic substitution — a price that changed itself while you were mid-quote is a price you would not trust, and rightly.

Can I bill without raising a quotation first?

Yes — raise the bill directly. Pick items from your list, type a one-off line if you need to, create the customer in place if they are new, and the GST is computed the same way it would be on any other invoice. Most counter sales never had a quotation and never needed one.

Does it track my stock?

No. Biztricks has no inventory, no stock levels and no godown tracking. The item list is a price list. If knowing what is on the floor is the problem you are trying to solve, Biztricks is not the answer to it, and we would rather say so here than in your second week.
